Evening Courses / Daytime Workshops

Francophone Health offers both daytime workshops (see below for dates) and evening French Training.

Two evening programs of French Language Training are available to WRHA staff members. See guidelines (below) for each program’s criteria.

The courses are taught by the Université de Saint-Boniface. Employees must contribute $50 towards the cost of the course.

Sessions are offered three times a year:

  • Fall session – September to December
  • Winter session – January to March
  • Spring session – April to June

Course selection Guide

  • New Student – I am a true beginner.
    You will automatically be enrolled in Beginner 1. No language test is necessary.
  • New Student – I have some French, but I am unsure of my level.
    If you know some French words or can say a few phrases, but cannot hold a simple conversation in French, Beginner 1 is a good place to start to learn the essential basics. 
  • Former Student – I have taken a class at the university.
    If you took a class successfully within the last two years, you will be automatically enrolled in the next level.
    If you were unsuccessful in your last course, you will be re-enrolled in that level.
    If your last class was longer than 2 years ago, the university will determine whether or not you need to be re-evaluated based on your transcript with them.

    Good knowledge of French
  • If you believe you have good knowledge of French, can hold a conversation and understand but do not know your level, we will request to have you tested to determine the appropriate level you should be following.
