Creating Your Assertive Self

Many people feel unable to express their needs directly to colleagues, family or partners.  They may worry their behaviour could be perceived as aggressive or selfish, but there can be implications for not speaking directly: your actions may be misinterpreted, or your wishes might not be communicated.  By communicating assertively, you can allow others to be aware of your feelings without taking over the room.

Topics include:

  • Identification of assertive, aggressive and passive behaviour
  • Exploration of how non-assertive communication affects you and others
  • Exploration of the benefits of communicating assertively

Participants will also review and practice assertive communication techniques in the workshop, and will gain an understanding of how to utilize these techniques with others
