Dementia Care Essentials:  Caring for a Person with Dementia when Behaviour Changes

All behaviour has meaning! As a person’s dementia progresses they may experience changes in their behaviour. These behaviour changes may be triggered by factors in the person’s health, changes in their environment, problems with cognition and communication or being asked to do things that are not reflective of their current abilities.

Through collaboration between Manitoba Blue Cross and the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba they will discuss why people with dementia may pace, ask repetitive questions and sometimes resist care. Examples of effective strategies for these behaviours will be provided during this session.
