Family Medicine
The Family Medicine Program is responsible for three service areas in which family physicians and midwives working with other health care professionals provide care: General Family Medicine, Palliative Care and Low-Risk Obstetrics.
Within the Winnipeg Region, Family Medicine with over 200 physicians and 20 midwives provides services at all acute care sites and one long-term care site for over 450 beds in total. In addition, Family Medicine runs two ambulatory care teaching clinics in conjunction with the University of Manitoba, the Kildonan Medical Centre and the Family Medical Centre.
These clinics provide an opportunity for Family Medicine residents and students of other disciplines to learn about comprehensive multi-disciplinary patient care in an ambulatory care setting.
