The Manitoba Partnership Dietetic Education Program (MPP) ensures dietetic interns gain practical experience in all aspects of dietetic practice utilizing principles of adult education and self-directed learning. Learning opportunities occur throughout the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and other health regions in Manitoba, to support dietetic interns in developing skills in all five areas of competence: Professional Practice, Communication and Collaboration, Nutrition Care, Population and Public Health and Management consistent with The Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice developed by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP- http://www.pdep.ca). This post-degree dietetic education program is accredited under PDEP and prepares individuals for eligibility for registration with a provincial dietetics regulatory body.
Twenty MPP dietetic internship positions are available exclusively to students enrolled in the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Human Nutritional Sciences program through the MPP Pre-Selection process. A student’s eligibility to apply for a Pre-Selection position is determined prior to application submission and includes assessment of academic courses, degree GPA and degree credit hours. Positions are awarded annually and the final selection process occurred in the Fall 2019 and these students will begin dietetic internship in September 2021. The MPP will close in 2022, following internship class graduation, and future dietetic internship practicum placements will be managed through the University of Manitoba, Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences, when they launch their new Combined Masters Practicum program in dietetics in the Fall of 2022.
