Orientation

Population and Public Health (PPH) Orientation is composed of clinical mentorship, in-person class sessions, and online self-directed learning modules. In-person sessions are offered at a designated location or virtually through MS TEAMS periodically throughout the year.  Links to online self-learning modules are built into the WRHA Orientation Checklist For Public Health Staff and Nursing Senior Practicum Students or available on Shared Health Learning Management System (LMS). PROVINCIAL PHIMS TRAINING

The province is pleased to offer provincial PHIMS training sessions related to Immunization and CD Investigation and Outbreak Management.  REGISTRATION IS COMPLETED ON LMS. The training sessions provide the necessary information to complete the PHIMS training required for new staff. The training can also be used as refresher training as needed. There will be a maximum of 25 participants per session. These sessions are to complement Immunization and CD Investigation orientation sessions offered by WRHA Communicable Disease Coordinators, and if available, it is recommended that Provincial PHIMS Training should be completed prior to WRHA Communicable Disease Orientation Days #1 and #2. Step 2 Breastfeeding Essentials course

Step 2 is an online course with a curriculum based on the 7 competency domains of the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative® (BFHI). The course is 22 hours of online class time and 4 hours of observation/skill building. Once registered, staff will have 60 days to complete the online course component. It is important for registrants to manage their time effectively and complete the course within the given timeframe. There will be no extensions. Only one seat per staff member will be purchased.  A certificate of completion will be available for download after staff have completed the online course.
